My main gig is finance. I’m also an avid gamer.

Put those together and, yeah, I end up looking at video games like case studies. It’s just how I’m built. When I play something, I want to know who made it, why they made specific choices, and which of those choices came from creative vision versus business reality.

LinkedIn saw that pattern and apparently decided, “Chris, you’re clearly a rising power player in the gaming industry.” So now my gaming posts get pushed straight into the feeds of actual game executives.

The result: a flood of comments and messages. Pitches. Meeting requests. People assuming I’m a decision-maker.

And then I have to gently break it to them, “I’m not your target. I’m not in the industry. I’m just a guy who likes talking about video games.”

Honestly, it feels like that Seinfeld episode where Kramer wanders into a corporate job and everyone just rolls with it.

I’ve never developed a game in my life. I’m simply someone who pores over balance sheets for work… then unwinds by picking up a controller.
