Looks like, once again, problems can be traced back to EA execs demanding unsuitable trendy changes to a game still three years from release, then backtracking after their first notable failure 9_9 #Gaming

@CactuarJoe I haven't played it yet, but suspected something was very very wrong when it was offered up almost immediately as a Playstion Plus game of the month. It's a shame, Inquisition was one of my favorite games from that era, it's the thing that made me finally upgrade from a PS3 to a PS4.
And before you ask, I was down bad for Scout Harding, denied all other attempts to woo me romantically, and believe the canonical ending is the one where she's with you by the DLC

Anyway I'm putting this article next to the other one that was like, "EA execs don't think you need to cater to a series' core audience" and gesturing meaningfully with my eyebrows.
Like, this game didn't reach where you guys wanted it to because you failed your core audience. Without them you never generate the word of mouth that gets the general audience interested.

Some of the Dragon Age: Veilguard devs have responded to this article on social media. Sounds like the general response has been, "lol yeah shit sucked"

Also I appreciate that the general sentiment from players has gone from "it's kinda bland" to "all that happened and the game wasn't actively terrible? Good job!"
