As a Canadian, be careful what you wish for. Russia thought they could take over Ukraine in a 3 day special miliitary operation and 3 years later their military and economy is in ruins. Then look back at how Russia’s invasion of Finland went. Simo Hayha sends his regards.

It doesn’t matter how “elite” your military equipment is or how many billion dollars it is worth, a war is fought by boots on the ground and the geography favours the defender. If you thought fighting arab insurgency in the desert or asian insurgency in the jungle was difficult, consider how difficult it’s going to be fighting against an insurgency that fluently speaks your language and looks indistinguishable to you in the great white north. Trump should stick to golf.

It’s not about achieving anything, it’s about staying in power. Who cares if millions die if some pedophile gets what he wants?

      In reality it’s more like:

Ukraine: “Elections are impossible in the middle of our country being invaded and a good third of it being in enemy hands.”

US: “Imma invade you, bitch. Then Greenland is next. Or Mexico, I don’t fucking know.”

      Everybody else: “No, America, sweetie…”

I think it’s in the Ukrainian constitution. It wasn’t something they just did recently.

Wait until the US economy is a massive dumpster fire and unemployment sky rockets. At that point the Government of Putin will release a lie and start a fucking war. Iran is on the menu, because the aerial campaign simply delayed their nuclear ambitions.

That makes sense. And the difference is the American constitution says the opposite (or more accurately, doesn’t have any exceptions). We’ve had elections during every war and conflict that coincided with an election. Lincoln was reelected during the Civil war.

Additionally, in a war with canada internal cooperation would be very weak. A lot of us are pissed at how he’s treating y’all. The home front of a war with canada would likely resemble it during the Vietnam war. I can see him being dumb enough to push through a draft, and I suspect even he can’t keep his grip on power during a draft against our favorite foreign country (sorry aussies and brits).

My actual suspicion is that he’d attack Mexico. There are a lot of white Mexicans who speak English, but nothing compared to Canadians. We’ve already got a lot of Americans who hate Mexico and think it’s a crime ridden hellhole run by the cartels. We’re really war weary from all the fights we spent the first 20 years of the century picking, so even that is a balancing act for him.

Also y’all’re in nato while Mexico has chosen to hold no military alliances.

I remember reading a few articles detailing how a military incursion into Canada would likely go.

tl;dr is that Canada’s military would likely surrender immediately and then go underground to assist in resistance efforts. The Canada/US border is one of the longest unprotected land borders in the world and many cities along the border are right beside each other. The US would take immediate soft control but would be fighting fierce resistance coast-to-coast for decades that would frequently spill across the border and result in attacks on their own cities and facilities. Not to mention an assault on Canada is very unpopular with US citizens and troops and all of the states that border Canada will refuse to turn into battlegrounds. A lot of US citizens have family and friends in Canada and the militaries of the 2 countries have close bonds from working together for generations. If any countries came to Canada’s aid with their own military force then it would get even uglier.

The immense economic strain of holding Canada against the resistance coupled with the internal unrest and inevitable worldwide sanctions placed on the US would cause complete economic collapse and eventual civil conflict. The USA, as the singular entity we know of today, would be destroyed.

Doubful that would succeede considering there is 243,042 km (151,019 mi) of Canada coastline.

Right now, it’s 50/50 between Canada and Mexico.

Trumpie has already floated his casus belli out to the public.

For Canada, it would be about how Canadians want to be Americans and Canadians want to be the 51st state. For Mexico, it would be about going after the cartels that have been designated as terrorist organizations. Invading Mexico to protect Americans.

Or maybe Trumpie will invade both countries.

Twenty Lessons on Fighting Tyranny from the Twentieth Century

Americans are no wiser than the Europeans who saw democracy yield to fascism, Nazism or communism. Our one advantage is that we might learn from their experience. Now is a good time to do so. From across the fearful twentieth century, here are twenty lessons about what it takes to oppose tyranny, adapted to the circumstances of today.

As a Canadian, you know that 40 years of government policy has effectively ended patriotism in most of the country, only the Quebeckers would put up any fight to speak of, not because they’re “Canadian” though. Maybe Ontario somewhat. The rest of Canada had been pushed around by Ottawa for their benefit like subject states to an empire, most people would be more likely to buy a invading force member a beer than shoot at them. Think I’m lying, you really need to talk to more people in the wild.
