after one too many close calls got tired of biking without a noodle, tried mounting a noodle under the saddle, it got in my way and was too floppy, so i finally accepted that as a society we have simply stopped making affordable and nice-looking rear bike racks (like my sadly cracked one from aeons ago) and ordered a not-terribly-affordable but halfway-decent-looking bike rack online, picked it up today, installed my old side basket and noodle on it, and will take photos of my setup when next i have the opportunity to take it for a spin.
(the bike rack lets me mount the noodle far enough back that it doesn't get in the way of me pedaling. the side basket both props up the noodle so it doesn't flop around, and provides a convenient way to tuck it away when i'm parked or am in a bike lane.)
