Amazon definitely doesn’t check returns very closely so not at all shocking something like this could happen.

I bought some AirPods off of Amazon and received an empty box. The side of the earbuds box was cut open so someone could slide the earbuds out.

Thankfully they’re only $200 so the Amazon support dude didn’t even hesitate to refund me. I can’t imagine trying to explain how I didn’t get a $3K card. Would probably have my credit card fight it out but would then get banned from Amazon.

I recently bought a case through amazon for a new samsung phone only because the delivery time was weeks faster. Got torn packaging for the phone with an apple version of the case inside.

Pretty sure our family sub runs out this summer and I plan to ditch it.

If it wasn’t Amazon, I’d have my doubts. They don’t even check if serial numbers match the box.

HDMI port goes bad on your PS5? Forget an expensive repair, just buy a new one and send back the old one. If they ask why you’re returning it, say the HDMI port was broke.

Never use Amazon for expensive electronics. There’s too much nonsense going on.

I tried to preorder a phone once. Sony offered a pair of earbuds as a preorder gift and I wanted that specific phone anyway so hey, why not. Unfortunately, their fulfillment partner happened to be Amazon.

Instead of my phone I received a book about Lemmy Kilmister. Oh, and they couldn’t correct the error; all they could do was to have me send the book back and get a refund and buy the phone again – which of course took me out of the preorder program.

Yeah, no. There’s too much bullshit with Amazon to trust them with expensive gear.
