Ever since I was in school I wondered about how some of my more journalistic or scholarly friends self-prompted (and I kind of hate how gen AI has co-opted the term) for pieces they wrote.

My writing is pretty good, and my research skills are excellent, but picking that question on my own from the infinite list of possible questions has always boggled me.

In my day work, whatever issues I spot in a case prompt research for motions, but like law review just picks an argument...
