Yeah, I do not take my moral lessons from folk tales.

Though I should note that there is no shortage of tales where the Devil takes on the role of a male seducer.

@amalia12 In all fairness, one can also read that story under a different perspective that is actually quite interesting: A man is being punished brutally here for not being chaste (and another man narrowly avoids that same fate by remembering just in time not to commit adultery). Therefore, one can read it as a story that warns men against sexual misconduct - the demonic women, however, *aren't* punished for being seductive, as far as we can tell.

True. And in the original ballad version of the tale, the knight who winds up dead explicitly _wishes_ for a sexual encounter.

However, I do have hopes for writing a book about love stories from German folklore. Romance is a popular book genre, right?
