@Tim_Eagon You'd think A: The people interested in Traveller would prefer the Traveller system anyway; and B: People who want something like Traveller but with a different system would use Stars Without Number of Starfinder.
But I guess some folks just want 5e for the name recognition.

@nikink There's also 5e Sci-Fi rulesets like Esper Genesis already.

@Tim_Eagon it's nothing but a bland cash grab

@Tim_Eagon :helpless-disinterested-shrug:
It seems that 5e has become the de-facto touchstone of the hobby. Just like d20 was in the 00s.
If it's not hurting me/my games, I wish them well and continue to play on with CT77.
(I did have to look to see if this was a long-delayed April Fool's Joke, though.)

@chgowiz @Tim_Eagon I thought that it was a reprint of the Traveller 5th edition rules that got crowdfunded in 2012. Mongoose have been printing updates to their rules.
Iβve been told itβs not. -

@chgowiz @Tim_Eagon I'm almost interested. Can you use 5e effectively to play something other than a superhero game?
[I don't want to play it, and have come to conclusion 5e isn't even a good system for playing D&D with, but I'm interested.]

@Colman @Tim_Eagon I don't know - I don't play 5e regularly!
I played it a bit when COVID initially hit, but only for a few months. My thought is that like a good many systems, you can houserule/jury-rig it enough to fit any particular setting, but it's not at its best that way.
