      @juergen_hubert Oooh, that's interesting. In Glorantha, rivers have spirits and it's their duty to go down to the sea. (They used to go the other way.) They'd likely have varying opinions on having bad things dropped or chased into them.

        Oh, German folklore has plenty of river spirits, too. They are pretty nasty - many of them seek a sacrifice every year, which they drown.

          @juergen_hubert Mostly Glorantha's can be put off by worship. The nastiest nature spirits often live in rivers and drown people, though.

            In German folklore, such spirits are usually called "Nix" (or "nixie" in English). Here are a bunch of tales I have translated about them:
