-I'm loving the variety of character builds that are possible, I can see five or six builds *just for this Necromancer subclass* so I have no complaints there. Hell, I can see two or three ways to do a build *just involving exploding corpses* which is just... Absolute chef's kiss.

-Performance is a little stuttery, but it's mostly fine. I'm not entirely sure why the recommended specs for this thing are as high as they are, it doesn't look like it's doing anything THAT fancy. Eh, maybe the later bosses have FMV attacks with ray-tracing, who knows.

That's a couple hours of #LastEpoch, here's some initial thoughts;

-It's a Diablo-like, so the plot is very dreary and serious, but also kind of hilarious? The first hour of the game has you Marching Off To War, but you stop to help an old man retrieve an artifact and he goes, "Welp, we're losing the war, nothing for it!" and pushes you into a Time Hole (with *the artifact you retrieved for him* that's gratitude 9_9) to a Ruined Future where Cthuloid monsters are eating the planet.

Which is, I think you'll agree, a WILD overreaction to losing a war.

Also I'm not 100% sure about the timeline, but I think the Eternal Empire of Immortal Undead that came between the War of the Gods era we came from and the Cthuloid Brunch era we ended up in actually only lasted like 300 years.

Which, again, is *hilarious.*

Getting further into the game, I'm finding the level of complexity very nice. High enough to be interesting but not so high that I'm worried about screwing myself over.

The plot continues to be very funny when looked at I'm the right light. The Time Artifact is basically a character in its own right, and it's kind of scatterbrained. Got all the way to a major plot boss and one of the other characters is like, "Use the Spear!" and I'm like what spear, this is the first I'm hearing of a spear and the Time Thingy goes, "Oops, hold on lol" and throws your ass back in time to go pick it up

The thing about Diablo-likes is they reward high concentration and twitch reflexes

and while I am *capable* of those I also have a habit of long gameplay sessions

so after the first hour or so you can start to hear the gentle sizzling of my brain and watch my eyes shrivel up like raisins

cos i'm forgetting to blink

The last couple alternate timelines are... Suspiciously better written than the other ones were. Interesting.

Switched to a full Exploding Corpses build, and let me tell you that is CRUNCHY. That feels good. You get enough stuff that triggers on minion death that exploding your own critters can heal, shield, and restore your MP all in one go. It's pretty wacky. #LastEpoch #Gaming

Okay well I can see the final boss from here, but it's behind more grinding. Which is kind of a crappy way to tell a story.

I get that a lot of the awkwardness of the plot is because the story was incomplete at launch and they expected to finish it with updates, but the result feels like a pretty good argument to *not do that.*
