Exciting news: The Chicago #Chess Center, a nonprofit club of which I was one of the founding organizers, is moving out of its shared space at Dearborn Station and into its own space on the second-from-the-top floor of 166 W. Washington St., a stone's throw from Washington/Wells.

At the time @billbrock1958 and I roped in a few other folks to incorporate Chicago Chess Center NFP Inc. as a 501(c)(3), Chicago was the only one of the top 10 most populous cities in America NOT to have a flagship metropolitan chess club, let alone one with its own dedicated space.

I'm not sure what the landscape looks like now—I've been out of the scene since the Oobit was born—but it's exciting to learn that, 13 years after we formed CCC, it's finally achieved the goal of creating a new home for chess in Chicago, filling the void left by the shuttering of the Chicago Chess Club (1891–1984).

Congrats to Bill, current president Jonathan Silverstein and all the members of CCC!

And if you'd like to help defray the costs of the move … https://gofund.me/f8710dec
