Welcome. I'm not an expert or anything but I do have a couple of tips that you may know or not already, they're not exactly state secrets.
1. Follow more accounts. My experience got better by following more people.
2. You can find people to follow by browsing your hashtags. Whoever is there is also interested in that thing.
OK, you asked for recommendations, @Theblueone posts an awesome Guitar of the Day thing. From the classic to the obscure and beyond, it's good.

@sergiodeprado love it. I like how it looks like they are set up in someone's back yard. Just entertaining the neighbors.

@Zodypop It is not necessary to recommend something. The hashtags rule: If you set an hashtag, every user who follows this hashtag gets your toot. If you follow an hashtag, you get every toot that contains it.
Just klick on an hashtag and you'll get thr relevant toots and on the top right the button to follow it.Fedi.Tips (@FediTips@social.growyourown.services)
Had several questions about how the main "Home" feed works on Mastodon. Here's what it shows: 1. All posts from all accounts you follow in chronological order, newest at top 2. All posts shared by accounts or groups you follow 3. Posts that use hashtags you follow in chronological order, newest at top ...and that's it, there's nothing else on your Home feed. It doesn't push anything else at you, it doesn't hide anything from you unless you ask it to. No algorithms, no ads. #FediTips #Mastodon

@fedithom done! Thanks.

@Zodypop There are a lot of folks into gardening here: vegetable , flowers, trees, mushrooms, and native plants.
If you're into vegetable gardening, I recommend following @richrollgardener .
Add NativePlants hashtag to posts you share about native plants.
Consider adding the zone you're in for gardening folks.

@Zodypop I'd suggest following those hashtags themselves. You can click on each hashtag and then click the "follow hashtag" button on the page that shows all the posts for that tag.
Its definitely made things a lot easier for me to find folks I like!
-
@Zodypop @fedithom #retrocomputing too!
People post some really neat stuff under that.
-
Come to nostr, we have cookies, and bitcoins to zap (tips), and bridges to Mastodon and Bluesky like used here to show your post on my nostr feed, thanks to your tag.

@Zodypop youll get book reviews (including scifi) and photos of flowers from me.

I don’t know what kind of gardening you do, but #permaculture is a pretty active tag. -
@Zodypop If you're interested in Atari computing—especially Atari BBSing and online gaming of the 80s-90s—Josh Renaud (@kirkman) is a great follow. He's done primary research and historical preservation on Atari, retrocomputing, and online history (especially BBS era). Been following his work for years, both here and on his blog.
As for MLB? Not a lot of success getting anything started on that front, but that might just mean we who want it need to be more proactive. GO REDLEGS!
Best of luck!
