Welcome. I'm not an expert or anything but I do have a couple of tips that you may know or not already, they're not exactly state secrets.
1. Follow more accounts. My experience got better by following more people.
2. You can find people to follow by browsing your hashtags. Whoever is there is also interested in that thing.
OK, you asked for recommendations, @Theblueone posts an awesome Guitar of the Day thing. From the classic to the obscure and beyond, it's good.
@troy_frizzell @Theblueone love it. Just followed.

@Zodypop #retrogaming might be a good hashtag to follow

@fedithom done! Thanks.

@Zodypop There are a lot of folks into gardening here: vegetable , flowers, trees, mushrooms, and native plants.
If you're into vegetable gardening, I recommend following @richrollgardener .
Add NativePlants hashtag to posts you share about native plants.
Consider adding the zone you're in for gardening folks.

@Zodypop I'd suggest following those hashtags themselves. You can click on each hashtag and then click the "follow hashtag" button on the page that shows all the posts for that tag.
Its definitely made things a lot easier for me to find folks I like!
-
@Zodypop @fedithom #retrocomputing too!
People post some really neat stuff under that.

I don’t know what kind of gardening you do, but #permaculture is a pretty active tag. -
@Zodypop If you're interested in Atari computing—especially Atari BBSing and online gaming of the 80s-90s—Josh Renaud (@kirkman) is a great follow. He's done primary research and historical preservation on Atari, retrocomputing, and online history (especially BBS era). Been following his work for years, both here and on his blog.
As for MLB? Not a lot of success getting anything started on that front, but that might just mean we who want it need to be more proactive. GO REDLEGS!
Best of luck!

@Zodypop What is your profile header pic and why is that pattern so familiar?
-
@eva I'm glad you asked. That's the carpet in my Dad's basement, which was last decorated in the 70's (and yes, if the carpet were lighter, it would probably look gross by now). It occurred to me about 2 years ago to take a picture because I love it and it won't last forever. There have been countless gatherings and holiday parties down there.
