It's raining big fat drops right now.

    It's raining big fat drops right now. I have to leave the house in about 20 minutes. I am not made of sugar and I won't dissolve, but I find myself hoping for a small break in the weather all the same.

    And it's not just the prospect of getting soaked. Sometimes when it rains too much, too fast, our street disappears due to poor drainage. My boss knows this (and she used to live in a similar situation) but I'd hate to have to call in due to "my street is temporarily a canal and I have no gondola."

    Other than that, it's a lovely storm. Rolling thunder, thick rain, and it seems as if the wind is not blowing much. It teased all day yesterday (and it was ominous, because the sky was the wrong color), but nothing happened until this morning.

    This is one of my favorite times of year here.
