    “Tin shrine token, badger with one paw raised.
    Wooden shrine token, cherry inscribed with the aphorism "Submission but only to the truth."
    Pilgrimage Itinerary. Fine rag paper and ink. The itinerary lists twenty-four shrines throughout the empire of Anh, each with a check mark next to it.”

    Pilgrimages are under used in ttrpgs.
    The quote is from the Empress of salt and Fortune.

      @Da_Gut Pilgrimages are a fine theme to bring interesting people, places, and plots together. And you're right, they're under-used in RPG scenarios.

      I guess "The Long Walk" introductory adventure in Lords of Gossamer and Shadow might count, obliquely; it's a grand pallbearers' walk across the back passages connecting myriad worlds.

      I imagine RuneQuest might have made use of pilgrimages in the setting.

      Plenty of historical and current examples to draw from for inspiration.

        @jmeowmeow @Da_Gut

        German folklore has a lot of interesting folk tales featuring pilgrimages, too. I have two relevant texts on my wiki right now, but there are many more.
