This set has been sitting dormant for years, ever since the original remote went bust after a messy battery leak. Today I finally resurrected it with a universal remote—shockingly painless to program.

Worth it, because a lot of my movies and games look plain wrong on modern LCDs. CRTs like this one render 480i/480p content natively, no scaling artifacts, no input lag, no weird motion smoothing. Just pure, era-accurate picture. And with that chunky Toshiba tube, the colors and scanlines hit exactly the way they’re supposed to.

Sometimes, the only way to play is the way it was meant to be played.
