I went on the free trial of Apple News Plus briefly and it's just a bigot parade. It's 90% Telegraph, LBC, and some of the Times, all endless stories about immigrants and trans people. There were a few interesting stories from other publishers, and you can block some people or "show me less of this", but if I wanted to spend hours every week curating a news feed I could just go to the news sources that I wanted.

You can't cancel the free trial without immediately dropping it but that's fine.
