    The dice gods have declared I will watch the great Sylvester McCoy next. Which story should I watch?

    So many good options.

      @Da_Gut

      He’s incredible.

      I thought the Hobbit movies were way too long, but I loved every second we got of him playing Radagst the Brown.

        @deinol @Da_Gut The Hobbit absolutely did not need to be a trilogy of films. A duology to fully-explore the text would have worked just fine. Still, I did enjoy the movies, and yes, Radagast was an absolute joy.

          @audreygwinter @deinol @Da_Gut A ~300 page book should be one movie max.

            @Tim_Eagon @deinol @Da_Gut A 300 page book with a *lot* of characters. Unless you're content to just leave most of the dwarves in the background.

              @audreygwinter @deinol @Da_Gut You could excise almost all of the dwarves from the story and it wouldn't really matter.

                  @Tim_Eagon @audreygwinter @deinol @Da_Gut My understanding is that it's not so much "an extended film of The Hobbit" as "nobody is ever going to pay for me to make a film of the Silmarillion, at least not if they've read it, so I'll work as much of it as I can in here".

                    @RogerBW @audreygwinter @deinol @Da_Gut Ironically, a 9-12 hour total trilogy of the Silmarillion would've worked great!

                      @Tim_Eagon @RogerBW @deinol @Da_Gut I would give *so much* for a well-filmed Silmarillion. Even animated.

                        @RogerBW @Tim_Eagon @audreygwinter @deinol having read the Silmarillion, though not in several decades, it does read an awful lot like the game Masters extended notes on the campaign setting

                          @Da_Gut @RogerBW @audreygwinter @deinol it's like the Bible, a history textbook, and some GM's campaign notes all rolled into one.
