@therivercrow It's not that you are wrong, but I think all these data brokers know everything there is to know about all of us, and it would be trivial for them to create lists of undesirables when they decide to, and no deleting a single all will change that.

They already have all that shit, do you really expect that (lack of) words on an electronic document have stopped them?
No reason to not delete now though, of course. Better late than never, I guess. Just make sure there aren't any other apps ... or operating systems ... or hardware ... that are surveilling you, if it's a concern.

@therivercrow to be fair in a way, almost all the corporate social media tracks this at least indirectly (still hilarious when they started advertising trans color thigh high socks to me

@therivercrow It's been there since 2024. That doesn't make the app any less shit or concerning given the current state of the US, but it's not new.

they were collecting this stuff before (even if just implicitly through the content people post) - cynically, this is just people realising because they all got notified about new ToS with the takeover of the US bit. I'm almost willing to bet the old ones said that same. -
@therivercrow I mean, it does specifically say it collects that information *if the user provides it*.. i.e. in a video they’ve made. I always assumed they were collecting that tbh. It recommends videos based on the ones you’ve already watched so it has to know something about the content of that video. IMO this isn’t really new it’s just more explicit.
@punkfairie @therivercrow Might well be that a lawyer would advise any Fediverse instance provider to include exactly the same language in their terms of service. If we happen to disclose those information on here, it may happen that it is processed in some way or the other, e.g., send to other instances, shown publicly, …
Does not mean that TikTok won't do something more nefarious with what they have now that they have this tech-oligarch-controlled US branch, but outrage about terms of service is always a bit old.
