    I just wondered, I'm thinking about making a christmas cake and suddenly remember my grandmother. I don't remember the recipe exactly, more that now I should start with soaking the dried fruits, and other things she was firm about, that everyone in the house should stir the cake, clockwise, and anyone who visited also before she baked it. She wasn't a superstitious lady, but I think this tradition might have been older than she was.

      Possibly. I haven't delved too deeply into non-story superstitions and customs, but there's a lot of material on those, too!
