I feel second hand shame for being the same ‘human’ category as those people

@stux like, the concept of recognition for work that helps the public good is a good thing, but it loses it’s meaning when you add in pomp & circumstance around it and also by handing it to politicians.

The Peace Prize specifically is inherently political & squishy vs. science ones.

@Heliograph @stux There were people during WW2 who dissolved Nobek medals in acid and hid them as orange fluid in jars on shelves rather than let the Nazis have them.

@stux actually I think it's very ok to give away/sell the physical representation of the price. It's of no use anyway. You do not make another person the winner or make him become what you are. So that act on itself is pretty much "who cares" to me.

Have you ever wondered how subtle evolution shifts happen? Like when did Homo sapiens begin to become Homo sapien sapiens? Are “we” shifting?
