This movie got kind of memory-holed in the '00s, and I'm sure it's because right when it was the proper age to start running weekly on basic cable and become an LotR-level meme factory, NOBODY wanted to see New York getting wrecked.

This is not a *good* movie, but I really think 9/11 had more to do with its lack of lasting cultural impact than the actual quality of the movie.
