I think the goal is to provide a point of comparison that is accurate enough, and that the average American will recoil in disgust from. "Gestapo" harnesses all those Hollywood movies images, and so works best. I might be wrong though.

We have heard stories from rapid responders about ICE tailing them,
boxing them in,
smashing their car windows,
pepper-spraying them,
holding them at gun point,
shooting out their tires,
detaining them.Some responders have been taken to the regional ICE headquarters,

and thrown out of the vehicle,

Some people have been held in detention centers for weeks before it came out that they were US citizens.

I am over 60 years old and have not experienced the original Nazis (except of my grandfather, who often boasted at family celebrations what he did to the Jews, but by then it was all long gone).
