First couple demos from this Next Fest:
Morsels: Fun, but I think I have to turn the difficulty level down a bit. Love the monster collection aspect, and the visuals are great.
Hell Clock: I feel like I should be able to move while firing? Iunno maybe that comes later. Visuals are very Hades. Apparently based on the War of Canudos, a Brazillian internal conflict from the 1800s, which is a helluva hook.
Chordioids: I am *so bad* at rhythm games I'm sorry T_T

Two more demos!
Under the Island: Link's Awakening, but you're a teen whose parents moved the family to Not!Hawaii and whoops, turns out there's Ancient Relics here. Feels really good, I'm very curious what the late game will look like. Great visuals, too, colorful without being eye searing.
Absolum: "It's Hades but-" "No, it's Streets of Rage with-" Guys, it's Dragon's Crown. Okay? It's Dragon's Crown but 10000% less skeevy and with a really brilliant backstory. Online co-op is a real draw

Also, damn that's a lotta roguelike elements. At this stage I wonder if the genre isn't in danger of losing its identity, given it's a part of everything from FPS to darts games these days.

Book of Abominations: Cthulhu Pokemon is absolutely a great idea. Solid visuals, and the combat seems like they know their way around turn-based RPG systems. The demo is *super* bare-bones, though. Very interested to see how this ends up.

Crescent Tower: A fun little dungeon crawler! Combat design is modeled pretty heavily on FF1, which has its pluses and minuses. Music is *very very good.* What little plot there is feels very, uh, High Schooler's First RPG? It's charming, but very cliche.
