    It works!

    It WORKS!

Congratulations, doctor. This will be your undoing.

Pacing is tight. We're already past "oh yea, the bandages".

I wonder if we'll get any insomnia in this. I don't think the comic touched on that, but that's one of the things that really stuck out to me about the implications of the premise.

Ah, okay, here's the (first?) sexploitation scene.

I was just about to say that it's nice that this woman (acts like she) enjoys the flirtation.

But anyway, here's the undiluted leering horniness.

At least they show some naked guys and cut around the changes-your-rating nudity. For the 60s that was downright tasteful.

I don't really care for how quickly Diane gets over James being able to see her naked, though. But, I get it, the story wants to move on and at least took the time to have her express uncertainty.

And now, for scrubbing-in! Gotta have it.

Very normal surgical response to using a scalpel that just touched someone else's blood to cut a person.

That man would be torn to pieces for the physical risk alone, let alone the violence or unprofessionalism.

So far this is *exactly* the plot of the comic, so I guess they are pretty much one-to-one.

I think it was not uncommon to do this in 1963, especially given what a stir this movie made. It was a sure thing to adapt it. And the art is really cool!

Anyway, reminder that the comic is here:

                "The effect is cumulative"

                That seems good. Good, right?

Anyway, James seems like he's jonesing for some more eye drops.

The movie undercuts itself by *fading* in James's vision every time.

Should just be a straight cut more often, to more strongly imply that he has lost his normal vision.

                                      "He can't lose"

                                      Okay but YES HE CAN.

This is a filmmaking mistake IMO, they should show him losing a few hands, but still coming out ahead overall.

With perfect knowledge of the deck, in a one-on-one scenario with the dealer, there will be unwinnable hands. It's not that kind of game.

                                      Not a big deal.

                                      Anyway, making it rain!

If you can believe it, the crash in the movie is MORE believeable than the crash in the comic.

He is ejected from a CONVERTIBLE at the same speed in the comic, and walks off.

Goofy. The man should be chunky road paste in that scenario.
