@TechConnectify that was fucking great. I wish half of the influencers had the conviction you do to put their neck out. I still think a distressingly large amount of democrats are really just smiling fascist and that's why they continue to vote for and fund trump's stuff, but you may be right on voting lesser evil just one more time.

      Keep being dangerous and loud.

@TechConnectify @TechConnectify I've been dealing with finding out people I follow and subscribe to turned out to be terrible quite a bit the past few years. Your rant was welcomed reassurance you're ok to associate with.

@TechConnectify I said it on the YewTewbs, but I'll say it again here: I wish I had more thumbs so I could give you more thumbs-ups.

It was quite delicious (as I said here) to see you take the gloves off and "explain it like I'm five" to anyone out there who might possibly maybe (hopefully?) be willing and able to listen.

@janeq @techindepth27 Yeah. Sadly they need specially encoded files, so hosting it would require double the storage compared to a classic website/RSS. 😞

Upload to Peertube and YouTube will grab it for you.

@TechConnectify I'm glad to see intelligent Americans react to to USA government's actions on its own citizens, a small sample of what it subjected the rest of the world to for decades.

@TechConnectify This was powerful (no pun intended). I was already sold on solar energy and battery storage, so I expected to be a happy member of the choir being preached to. Then the second part dropped, and it was so... cathartic.

What people should learn from Minnesota is: General Strikes work. Americans need a lot more general strikes if they want to improve things.

@BalooUriza @balkonsolar a grid tie inverter is synchronized to the grid and has to stop if the grid goes down, because otherwise it would loose sync and suddenly supply 100% of the load.

These imverters are designed to inject current in your home mains by using a voltage slightly higher than the grid, so it is consumed first.

@f4grx I'm trying to work out in my head how this isn't a "suicide cord" situation. I realize we're talking about differing electrical systems but to folks used to the power systems in use in North America and Japan, this just sets off all kinds of safety alarms in our heads so I'm wondering what's different that's making it safe?

@f4grx The part that I'm concerned about here is the graphic that seems to imply you can just plug this in to backfeed a wall socket that you'd normally use to plug a lamp or TV into, and that's the part that's specifically dangerous, since you're being a power source downstream of all of the safety systems, and people upstream can't guarantee their own safety from you when repairing downed lines as it works here when you just plug into a random wall outlet with a power source.

I might be entirely wrong but as I understand it they have pretty sophisticated current leakage and monitoring abilities and very very quick shut-off. So yes it's back feed but it can detect if something anomalous has happened so it locks out if a breaker is tripped or if a line is cut.
I don't believe you can use these in an outage situation, and you're correct it would be unsafe without an interlock.
