Ugh..

Ugh.. Every time we open signups within no time accounts with the display name "Kate Scott" and a variant of that username signs up with a custom email domain and floods links to CSAM content..
Feels a bit like a 'targeted attack' to get our instance down perhaps
Good thing we are classified as a social network with our hosting provider Hetzner so that reports always go through us first!
Still, oof..

@stux Sounds like automodding registrations might help. Signups require approval, an email is sent to the signup's email address anywhere from an hour to a day later asking for a reply with just the word YES (all caps) in it to confirm. If you get a valid reply an auto-handler approved the account, otherwise it gets dropped. I'd think someone has software to do this out there.

@stux 🤮 gross - is there a way you can share with other instance owners to ban the domain?

@nf3xn Not sure that helps
