@stux yeah. In a magic world where that could be guaranteed, yes.

Hope I'd still get to practice with air guns though, I really enjoy it

I voted for Kamala and Biden. I'm not gonna give them up, no matter what you think, because I can think for myself, and I don't need you to do my thinking for me.

Oh and please.. please don't get me wrong!

I do NOT want the gun nuts anywhere NEAR the protests..

        If they wanna join, great!
The more the better but leave the armory at home, don't give the dictator any reasons, even if for "show"

Violence is not the answer and guns are the definition of violence

(1.) That's not only foolish and counter-productive, but it makes you sound like a narrow minded bigot. We need as many warm bodies as we can turn out at *every* demo. Politics is numbers. You *need* us.

(2.) With talk like that you're alienating potential allies. Is that what you intend? I'm a gun owner. I'm not a "nut". I resent being slandered. We all do. Do you really want *me* to not go to demos? Think before you answer.

        Maybe read this first:

My partner, "Herself", and I went to the "NoKings" rally yesterday. It was glorious. It was exhausting. She's two weeks shy of 80. I'm 76. I had a stroke three years ago that damaged my balance, and I gave a game knee from a hit and run 50 years ago, so I walk with some difficulty. But of all the things we could do against fascism, it beat living hell out of getting shot at and bombed. We dragged ourselves home, ate leftovers and zoned out on a Valkyries game. We were sound asleep by 9:30 PM. She was still asleep an 9:00 AM. Now that it's morning I felt ready to resume my traditional doom scrolling. So I did, but what to my wondering eyes should appear but thousands of other "NoKings" rallies. Damn, but there's a *lot* of us. We heavily outnumber the #MAGAts. Heavily. We *are* going to win. "They got the guns but we got the numbers" -- The Doors, 1968 We have guns, too, but after seeing how many of us we are, I think we'll not have to use them. This brings joy to my heart. I shooting war here would every bit as ugly as a shooting war anywhere, probably worse because here we have "a rifle behind every blade of grass". I had begun to doubt, but it turns out that it's not going to be necessary. We may need to stage a #GeneralStrike, but we're not going to have to kill each other, just down tools and put our hands in our pockets, and walk out the door. (3.) Disabled elder here. The troubles that come from gun culture are *far* outweighed by the benefits. Guns make us equal. Without guns, the old, the weak, the small and the disabled are at the mercy of the the young, the strong, the big and the able-bodied.

For a long time I've been asking what the "main reason" is that there are so many firearms in the US..

..for a long time I kept pointed to the "Second Amendment" because "if the gov ever rises up against the people, they need to defend themselves" the gun nuts kept repeating

At this moment in time the US is actively rising up against it citiziens but the gun nuts are no where to be found

Even stronger, they are the ones often still supporting the dictator

So yeah.. Second Amendment? HA! Bs..

@stux My theory is that guns were given freely because of native usonians, to keep pushing towards the west and taking land from them.

Now they're "necessary" because police is near to irrelevance. In Spain you call the police and they're there in less than 10 minutes. In United States you call the police and they're there in no less than 1 hour, or 30 minutes if you're lucky.
