Holy crap, what a litany of terrible music; no wonder rock music barely sniffs the top of the commercial charts anymore. Those genres killed it.

@Tim_Eagon Oddly enough, I think it was around 1995 or 1996 that radio stations in the US started massively consolidating, and decisions around radio playlists became increasingly centralised. I imagine that played a role, too.

@davej Yeah, Clear Channel and the Telecommunications Act of 1996 came up prominently in the post-grunge video.
