@lexfeathers its tool. And as such, its about way of usage, not YES / NO

@lexfeathers But even if the result was 100% "No AI" somehow I doubt their AI search will disappear.

@lexfeathers With about 10,600 votes as of this writing itβs 95 per cent βNoβ.

@lexfeathers WOW. I know AI isn't popular, but I wasn't expecting the results to be so skewed toward #NoAI.
What this affirms for me is that the prevalence of "AI" today is not organically driven. It's being pushed top-down by big tech companies, with some hangers-on motivated by FOMO. This technology is not being embraced, it's being foisted on us.

@lexfeathers For those inclined to see the results, see below.
And, of course they have no link to share to the #Fediverse

@lexfeathers "We don't all feel the same about AI"
Kinda... kinda looks like we do?
"we don't all feel the same" sorta sounds like "not all men" special pleading in this context, doesn't it?
-
@oldgeek @lexfeathers Interesting, totally imaginable and a bit trite. Weren't hammers deskilling carpenters as well? And the study says nothing about how AI upskilled doctors, in detecting cancer.

@lexfeathers it's interesting because the linux distro Voyager Live is also having a vote on getting chatgpt into the terminal on its front page and its way closer https://voyagerlive.org/ (268 yes 431 no)
-
@lexfeathers Do you think they made 500 YES AI and 500 NO AI pins for their 1000 first shares promotion?
ahahaha I hope they did

-
@lexfeathers "We don't all feel the same about AI"
Kinda... kinda looks like we do?
@notthatdelta @lexfeathers @Em0nM4stodon its even higher at 9600 votes, 98% iirc
-
@lexfeathers Impressive how 5% of the voters are wrong...
Or open AI employees

wow this blew up check out my soundcloud https://waxlimbs.bandcamp.com
Ten Forward (tenforward.social)
@lexfeathers careful with soundcloud they added a "we may use this in AI training" clause around last year.
Isn't specific, but they can flip it at any time. -

@lexfeathers not sure if it's no period or not forcing it down your throat. I voted on the second one; plenty of good (and sometimes ethical) ai tools - just don't force me to use it. Options, please.

@lexfeathers Has the question be created by AI? - Bc I strongly advocate using ai to assist doctors with finding good diagnoses but I strongly oppose using ai to creat dumb pictures.
@torstentorsten @lexfeathers
Patient: Hey doctor I have a cut on my arm.
AI assistant: OK we'll have to remove your face to fix that cut. Let's begin.
Doctor: I think the AI is probably right because I've lost all of my medical training by relying on AI to do all my workYeah that will be great!

@torstentorsten @lexfeathers True. My concern is it won't be used as a complement for a highly skilled/trained MD. It will be touted as a tool to be used by interns to learn and will thus lead to them not becoming highly skilled. Also I'm focusing on AI versus ML which are different. With ML that is trained by highly skilled individuals and on a massively diverse set of humans yes. Which I believe the current ML based tools are definitely NA and European based data.

@lexfeathers very disappointing to see 5% still wanting it.
