Years before I was on the Fediverse I watched an awesome TV show called "Silicon Valley"( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon_Valley_(TV_series) ) and in that show I learned about TechCrunch (Disrupt)

@stux I’m still confused on how this could apply to the internet as a whole but yeah the similarities are striking.
Funny all can be show , I just kind of hated the main character
@64bithero How do you mean exactly?

Now years later and I have the privilege to host @TechCrunch itself

I still feel very blessed every single day for getting to host such amazing communities
️@stux @TechCrunch what a great full circle moment 🥹

Excellent TV show.Now is a good time for a successor that tackles the “AI” lunacy.

@jaykass Indeed! I think a lot of us feel like Richard these days

@stux I just don’t comprehend how we would be able to create internet infrastructure wireless using everyone’s cell phones with no central network to move traffic. Maybe I’m thinking about this to hard maybe I’m not thinking about this enough.

@64bithero Nop, that's not gonna work at least not at current scale
Look at Bitcoin for example, the total database is SO huge from the past decade alone
I'd rather be in control of my data from people who trust me with theirs

@stux for a single “application use” like a microblog or set of services sure. Passing through set infrastructure, yeah that I get. That’s ActivityPub that’s Mastodon. But I feel like there claiming it be the whole internet. And I gotta say it broke my brain.
Not the only accuracy foible but definitely the biggest ..

@64bithero
Yup that would workI think there are some projects like that already to "replace the 2.0 web" but so far nothing viable i guess
