    @juergen_hubert I just ran into an old post of yours on rpg.net re: planet generation from a couple years ago. Since that's obviously an indication of an overlap between your interests and my searching, what are you using these days? (I'm working on an educational project, but it includes certain questions about map or planet generation techniques. I just re-read the old 2015(?) Experilous post this morning.)

      @michaelc I'm not quite sure which precise thread you came across - I did a _lot_ of worldbuilding projects over the years.

      My current worldbuilding project has a low-res world map, built with "Song of the Eons" (an attempt at building a Civ-style fantasy game). The present challenge is to build proper maps for it - I am actually considering doing something with QGIS for this purpose.

      Although this is a low priority right now - my folklore translations are more important, and I have been sitting on a book manuscript for far too long. Still, you can see a few maps here:

        @juergen_hubert This is the thread I ran across: https://forum.rpg.net/index.php?threads/so-whats-the-state-of-the-art-in-planet-generation-software.900569/

        I'm looking at the underlying techniques being used for procedural generation with an eye to classroom curriculum, thus constrained by cheap, reasonable approximation for curriculum concepts, engaging, etc.

        I did, however, just download https://calandiel.itch.io/gleba which is another implementation of Song of the Eons method to see how they did it.

        I'm assuming your focus is now more on mapping the world, not generation?

          @michaelc

          Indeed. I have the overall world map, and now I need to fill it up with setting details.
