A couple in Buttstädt were so desperate for a child that they made a deal with the Devil - if they would give birth to one, he would receive the child!@juergen_hubert It makes very little sense indeed to make a deal with the devil for a child you are supposed to hand over straightaway ... But it does offer a nifty explanation for those common depictions of "Michael als Seelenwäger", I'll grant them that.
