@LastContinue I always go with the "jerk with a heart of gold" explanation. Trying to explain what a picaresque is to folks is always a trip

THIS SUNDAY at 9pm Eastern (that's 2am Monday UTC) (I think?THIS SUNDAY at 9pm Eastern (that's 2am Monday UTC) (I think? DST ends on Monday, shit might get weird) once again it's #MONSTERDON the weekly monster movie watch party! Come watch a *truly* goofy monster movie with a bunch of nerds!
This week we're watching THE ADVENTURES OF HERCULES (1985), the sequel to last week's Hercules (1983)! It was so bad we decided we needed more of Lou Ferrigno in a form-fitting loincloth! Maybe this time he'll throw a goose into outer space instead of a bear!
Anyway the flick's available free with ads on Tubi: https://tubitv.com/movies/476693/the-adventures-of-hercules
Or you can download in advance from Archive.org over here: https://archive.org/details/the.-adventures.-of.-hercules.-hd.-1985
See you this Sunday!

This will be the thread for my random Magic thoughts and whimsies.@jerbear Honestly that sounds like a good idea for everybody, like as a weird group-balance failsafe.

This will be the thread for my random Magic thoughts and whimsies.@jerbear In the couple of months I've been playing I've found matching the table to be the hardest part of the game

Last Saturday the pod consisted of Me, with a variety of decks from T2 up to T5 and; Guy with a Lightly Modified Precon and a Pimped-Out Kratos Deck; Guy with Sixteen Decks None of Which Were Lower than T4; and Person Who Literally Just Opened The Turtles Precon And Is Playing It Unsleeved.
Like, how do you match THAT?

Call me crazy, maybe the answer is "stop chasing trends when you're building a game that won't release for three to five years"?@gwync Now THERE's the creature collection game we need
Collect paper and fold them into little fighting guys

Call me crazy, maybe the answer is "stop chasing trends when you're building a game that won't release for three to five years"?or I guess we could re-enact the mid-2000s MMO scene, that's fine too

Maybe fund people with creative new ideas instead of pointing at whatever made $stupid last year and saying "like that, but more profitable"?
Highguard's failure is yet another case of a problem that has tormented videogame investors for years now
Another live service game is heading to the graveyard. Will the industry keep trying?

Hm. Not sure if want.@xerozohar S1 is a little weird -- closer to the books -- but generally good. S2-4 are the best, 5 is okay, 6 is butt. First episode's a pretty good litmus test for the whole series, actually, so have at it

Hm. Not sure if want.On the OTHER other hand, the series did end in the worst way possible, so I guess a shot at a less shitty conclusion might not be bad >_>
-
Hm. Not sure if want.On the one hand, Lovejoy is one of my favorite shows -- it's the intersection of the rogue-with-a-heart-of-gold and sticking it to the man and art history and "you gotta love it for it to work".
On the other hand, Book Lovejoy is kind of an asshole, and if there's one thing I cannot stand it's a Darker And Grittier Reboot.

Both Sony and Microsoft have patents now for "AI game helpers" that will play games for you and I can't stop thinking about that one quote that's like "Should I have the AI enjoy a good meal for me?@bussphomet It's an impressive marketing blitz and investment bubble for something which manifestly cannot do the things they are advertising, yeah.

But yeah, it's wild how far people will go just to not have to bother with anything.
