@juergen_hubert Tangentially relevant: aircanada has a bereavement policy which allows you to get a flight at a „normal“ price even if it’s very short notice and would otherwise be very expensive. They ask for proof but it can be submitted afterwards. I assume your acquaintance can’t book an aircanada flight but maybe other airlines do the same if you can get hold of a human and ask.

My university now offers burner/loaner phones for people travelling to the US. Funny times.
