There's a rumour that #Apple is changing the #iOS naming scheme and will 'skip' iOS 19, and name it by year instead i.e. iOS 26.

It's funny that people's reaction to this is saying that this is the same naming convention car makers use for their cars - when my immediate reaction is, ah, it's that #Ubuntu naming scheme which I used to find weird, but is clearly increasing in popularity nowadays lol.

Anyway, this naming scheme makes sense esp considering how Apple just has a fuck ton of OS-es under their belt lol including #iPadOS, #watchOS, and #visionOS. Anyway, can't wait for the #macOS 26.09 LTS release! ​​

I just encountered this whole thing about the US's REAL ID and went down a rabbit hole of discovering that the US don't even have a nationwide, common identification card...

Instead, they're only now pushing what is still NOT a unifying, single card all citizens should have but rather just a standard for the various 'identification' cards to comply with... like it's some commercial IC card like SUICA or some shit?

While other countries have long had a single, common national identification card (physical), and now either have already moved towards digitising them in the form of Digital IDs or even already have them, the US is freakin' decades away from ever, ever achieving that lol.

I'm really confused by how 'DMs' work on #Sharkey:

1) If I mention the person I'd like to DM, and set the 'Public' post to Direct, it wouldn't add that person as a Recipient automatically (so the Recipient would be none): Would the person I mentioned receive it? (I assume not)

2) If my Direct post (message) has no one mentioned, and only add the recipient as the Recipient: Would the person I added as recipient, but not mentioned, receive it? (the UI seems to imply, not, since it doesn't show who the Recipient is this way, once it's sent)

3) To send a DM to someone, do I have to BOTH add the recipient as a Recipient, and also mention them in said Direct post? <- cos I know this works, just feels... redundant.

Welp, TIL that people actually, legitimately bet on who will become the next pope. It's innocent I suppose (at least, as innocent as gambling in general can be), though not innocent enough for it to have not been illegal in the past even when gambling/betting (on other matters) was.
