@mekkaokereke I saw this news this morning, and so distrusted that it was real and not copaganda, that I de-boosted my original boost. I'm thrilled to reboost yours with the additional context.

Cops in St. Peter. -
Hey. While I'm giving y'all the whole "Black people experience this every day, it's not new for us," let me give you one more important Black nugget of info:@CStamp Agreed — that’s definitely how it should be used. It seems like it’s drifted over time to mean “I am watching those artifacts so I don’t become complacent.” (Or at least, that’s how I sometimes hear it in my communities.) That’s a worthy sentiment but not great for mental health.

I talk a lot about this in my job. I feel like culturally, we’ve created this obsession with “bearing witness”. But bearing witness without community support and with no plan of action to take afterward is just trauma.
