Mynydd-y-Gaer: Hillfort in Denbighshire. #HillfortsWednesday There's a quite steep side, and a gentle sloping side. The defences on the western side are the best preserved, with no really obvious entrances, but the views are terrific. Situated amongst a maze of small lanes halfway between Snowdonia and the Clwydian range.

In the middle ages it was used as a quarry for building stone, - since then it has been used as a military look out post, and as such was blown up during the second world war.
