Periodic reminder: I've already said many times that I think Fediverse (or at least a future flavor of it) wins in the end.@mekkaokereke ltrly been thinking abt this for a while. i love the fediverse for its tech & how it has the potential to organize outreach & build social connections, but ltrly the majority of posts i see in the live feeds here are by yt ppl often talking abt esoteric special interest technology, video games, or just shitposting, and nobody seems to call it out or notice??? the politics is satire w no focus on material praxis; there's sometimes blatant ableism, and all this makes it feel like the fediverse is a cozy space w/o focus on solidarity. the posts i've seen abt ICE in the last 24 hrs have been: 'they suck'; 'here's a white musician doing a song abt how they suck' & 'they really suck', not 'what can i do to help my local bipoc community?' or 'pls link me poc talking abt their exps & mutual aid' or 'how can i decolonize?', whereas the ppl i keep up w on insta r CONSISTENTLY doing unpaid labor writing & sharing resources, linking charity work for ppl & tryna get ppl to actually listen & do smth, yk?
