@NullNowhere Ya, it became especially apparent to me when Becky Heineman died. John shared a eulogy post where he misgendered her over and over. Felt so gross to see a text attempting to "show respect" for their contribution to computers and gaming, yet unable to show her the simplest courtesy of getting her pronouns right.

GAWD FUCKING DAMNIT!!!... I've known it for a while, but I still can't believe we lost John Carmack to fascism...DUDE WHO MADE FREAKING WOLFENSTEIN, THE NAZI SHOOTER!!

My mom is such a nerd. ️

She's retired, and spends much of her time crafting. She had a SERIOUS multi-sewing machine setup, and was getting into making clothes for "ball jointed dolls", something her and my nieces were having fun with.

3-4 years ago I gave her my old 3D printer (Tiertime Cetus3D). She was somewhat indifferent at first, but not a week later it became HER FAVORITE THING EVER.

My thinking was "hey, no need to buy shoe soles from AliExpress, just print them". Well, within 6 months she was 3D printing entire dolls!

That old printer of mine was running constantly for MONTHS! The maintenance needs were minimal, making it an ideal workhorse. Gosh I don't think I put more than a couple hundred hours on it myself in the 4-5 years it was my printer, and mom did that in weeks.

Fast forward 2 years and she finally burned out a stepper. My brother to the rescue with his finicky Atmega based Anycubic.

Welp, since Xmas she has a current Ender 3. Loves it so much she printed *3* for her dolls.
