@juergen_hubert you are absolutely right in that moving to a carbon free lifestyle (which I more or less have) does very little to shift the dial. It is still worth doing of course, but we should be putting a lot more pressure on the five or six largest polluters on the planet.

Apparently to this day, chartered accountants in Scotland don’t have to put the country after their qualification because we were the first. -

Sadly I think this could be a large part of the problem.Sadly I think this could be a large part of the problem. US politicians put party first and country a very poor second. So they are quite prepared to stand by and watch the moral economic and social destruction of their country simply in the hope they will win the next election.
The USA is the manifestation of all that is wrong with first past the post politics. It produces acute polarisation and binary choices which do not reflect public opinion.
It produces no more than vacuous confrontation
