There's something so frustrating about the way that people that aren't fighting game players talk about fighting games like they'd definitely be fighting game players if not for X reason
"I don't have the reaction time!" most players have median reaction times, even at a top level. What you lack is the ability to recognize complex situations, which comes with repetitions
"I don't play fighting games because they're too fast!" even the slowest, most methodical fighting games (tekken, street fighter) are too fast -- fighting games are balanced around the human reaction time, like any other real-time game. If they were any slower they'd be turn-based games, in essence (more than they already are)
"I don't want to just sit there and learn combos" but you'll learn scales for the guitar? hm.
