Man, 'potentially' sure is doing some heavy lifting here. For those of you that didn't read the article, looks like they're talking about oxidation in the context of the introduction of outdoor ozone inside, combined with all the regular-ass pollutants from cooking, cleaning, etc. The oxidation cloud in question we produce is coming from our naturally secreted oils, which was dampened by lotions and perfumes acting as a barrier. The potentially harmful portion came from the interaction of said oxidation cloud interacting with whatever else is in the air, like what comes out of our sofa when we sit on it. It would seem to be that it's only potentially harmful because we haven't really studied these interactions that much yet. You'd be just as correct in saying it's potentially beneficial. The real news to me is that we haven't really studied stuff like this that much. I would have assumed we would have studied the health effects of indoor air from this kind of source many times before, but I usually forget that I tend to severely overestimate the patience researchers have for controlling a variety of highly specific variables. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The whole men's barrier to seeking care think has gone on way longer than the grindset attitude of late. I think a big aspect is related to the grindset attitude though, but is deeper and more indolent. It's that men are often primary/majority breadwinners in a household lots of the time, and on top of the social stigma of seeking care (independence, weakness), you make more money if you set your health on the backburner. The benefits of primary care are not often easy to conceptualize (you never think about a stroke you didn't have) and this diminishes the importance of regular primary care vs acute care for illness and injury. It's important to note that this is a generational trend in both sexes, healthy, young folks are less likely to have a regular primary care physician as compared to older people or children.

Very interesting, but it's wild to me that needles made from silk proteins are the first choice here. Surely there's gotta be some plant protein or cellulose or such that's a lot cheaper. I do also wonder, if they looked at bringing out melatonin onto the fields before the harvest, in hope of the plants picking it up via their roots. The article makes it sound like they had a solution (microneedles) in search of a problem, so maybe they didn't even really look at other solutions. Which is fine, other studies can do that, but yeah, we should do that.
