@atomicpoet even the older Fedi (Mastodon / Pleroma / GNUsocial) had this problem in the early days until more moderation tools were added *and* moderators were more ready to act against poor behaviour (I remember 2017/2018 Fedi in particular attracted a lot more edgelords)

Generally speaking, #Lemmy and #Piefed tend to attract two kinds of people: -
We are just home from a bday visit and I drove the way back (gf's moms car)@stux I think nearly all the pirates are sponsored by construction companies and the workers do them as a weekend hobby (would make sense as you would have access to the cherry pickers and other stuff needed to put up 50 metre masts)

We are just home from a bday visit and I drove the way back (gf's moms car)@stux my late father only drove normal cars but was really interested in them and worked for Castrol testing the engine oil, and even though he passed away long before I got my driving licence I still remember many things I picked up from him even at a very young age..
reminds me of this song (I also head it on a pirate radio stream the week I passed my driving test)

It’s not that we’re particularly ‘blunt’ here in the NL or Europe, we’re just honest and to the point I guess@stux its the same in Eastern England (even compared to London or SE England) which is not surprising as NL is only just across the North Sea.
In many ways I prefer it, including how business owners and workers don't try to hide their political views on social media, that way I know which local businesses to support and which to boycott..
