I’m tired of this lying sack of shit. Call his bluff, I don’t even care anymore. He’s still pushing the fentanyl lies and we definitely import more from them than the other way around.

Trump is named in the Epstein files. Trump cut NOAA and FEMA funding before flash flooding killed over 200 people in Texas including two dozen Christian girls.

Or just an NDP that doesnt self destruct itself in order to push cheap corporate labor. I have a feeling a Mulcair NDP wouldn’t have lost party status.

My brother just had a similar bill for his dog… A mysterious infection that made her leg swell and took multiple rounds of antibiotics and IV/overnight stays to clear up. Then they realized the cause of the infection was a torn tendon on her leg which they had to repair through surgery. Incidentally through all these tests they were doing for the infection they discovered a highly treatable cancer which resulted in further surgery to remove a softball sized tumour. Dog is 8 so she’s likely to still have a few years in her if all goes well…

Definitely not crypto banks. I mean more of - people being able to do the transactions themselves straight from their phones or whatnot without the middleman (the banks). That’s how crypto is supposed to work - and people just pay a transaction fee (“gas fees”) to get the transaction done. There’s a lot of work that’s already been done to bring down the cost of gas fees too. Staking is like lending out your money and pooling it together while whoever borrows it has to pay you interest instead of paying the bank interest. There’s a lot of shitcoins and corrupt things with crypto for sure, but that’s a problem people collectively also need to solve - maybe don’t “stake”/lend out your money to shady coins is a start and don’t chase after this big marketed bullshit (FTX scam anyone)? There’s a reason why techbros, wall street etc got in and it’s because they’re circumventing regulation - so looks like the bank even in this current state despite being regulated still do tons of shady shit. The penalties are just the cost of doing business. It’s a dual edged knife. Want to be free from the middleman banks? Current regulation standards don’t even hold a candle against crypto. Crypto is community driven, decentralized and possibly even anti-inflationary. There are a lot of advantages but also in its current form easily perverted. Anyways, going to stop here as we’re off topic.

Global markets Ford says he wants Fortress Can-Am. Week after, 50% copper tariffs announced. If we don’t let US tech giants spy on us tax free, we will get treated like Brazil. Big disconnect with just more gaslighting.

Gotta say, when the downvote brigade comes for a comment like the one I made above, it says to me that it’s not about the title of the post, or the article’s merits. Opinions will differ, of course! People really just don’t want to hear legit criticism of Carney, and will attempt to silence anyone who dares to. I had a large Liberal-supporter’s account on Bluesky add me to their public blocklist of “toxic trolls”, next to accounts like LibsOfTikTok, because I said - and this is verbatim - “Carney’s housing plan is not FDR-like, sorry”. One of the top two comments in these replies makes a point that the piece itself actually agrees with - so they clearly hadn’t even read it yet. The other one complains about the fact that the topic was chosen at all. So much for discourse! Anyway, I’ve had plenty worse said about stuff I’ve written (a different essay whipped up a bunch of controversy on the orange site recently). So, while I won’t claim it doesn’t sting at all when people are dismissive and rude, my skin is starting to get thicker, haha

The NDP supported mass immigration into the housing shortage, I’d call them complicit.

I agree with this. I think a lot of Carney haters conveniently forget who Poilievre is. But in general every good point this blog post had to offer was buried underneath writing that shouldn’t have been cut out in a draft.

CMHC funded housing for decades. Conservative and Liberal governments funded it, and it worked in tandem with provinces that had governments of all stripes. That ended in the austerity of the 80s and 90s that was implemented by Conservative and Liberal federal governments. Immigration increases economic activity far beyond its costs. That isn’t in question. The original article and CMHC piece describe a reduction in demand for rentals as one of the reasons prices have fallen slightly, and suggest that a reduction in immigration is the cause, thanks to where the reductions have happened. So racists have to lie about its economic effect, because using racism is very exposing. This isn’t a question of race. It’s a question of government policy, and the effect it has on people. Poor federal and provincial planning has triggered a polycrisis. By fixing the mistakes, hopefully we’ll be able to welcome more people. In many cases, immigration can provide a fix by bringing in people we need. (There’s a missing conversation about what that does to their home country and the quality of life Canada provides after they arrive, but let’s save that for later) But it’s hard to have conversations about potential fixes when mentions of immigration are greeted with accusations of racism.

I find it interesting you are so fixated on the pancake aspect when the piece is (to me at least) quite clearly about the PM’s personality, and how it parallels his policy and actions. Thanks for pointing out the broken link, I’ll correct that Edit: that link seems to be working again, but it did take a while to load, weird
