This is absolutely wild: in terms of sheer activity, !movies@piefed.social has blown past !movies@lemmy.world—and by a significant margin.

Right now, !movies@piefed.social sits at 1,670 active people, 572 posts, and 2,805 comments. By comparison, !movies@lemmy.world only has 569 active people, 191 posts, and 1,324 comments.

For context, I originally created !movies@piefed.social after the mods at !movies@lemmy.world started removing my threads simply because they didn’t like them. I wasn’t about to keep putting in the work on long, detailed reviews—only for them to be arbitrarily deleted.

At first, the community grew at a modest pace. But then lemm.ee announced they were shutting down, and their movie community migrated over. Around the same time, we added two more mods.

The result? A bustling, active movie community. Dare I say, the best one in the #Fediverse.
