I'm really enjoying Daredevil: Born Again, but there's something slightly off about the world-building. I talked a little about it last week, but tonight brought another element to the fore - the show's treatment of superheroes compared to the rest of the MCU. It also feels like it's still trying to be in the Netflix universe, with it's wishy washy connection to the rest of the MCU despite it being the third official appearance of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk.

@Tim_Eagon You mean you don't think the mayor of the city that was ground zero for alien invasion and literally saved only because superheroes showed up getting voted in because he is aggressively against superheroes is believable?

@dawngreeter Yeah, but it's more everyone else having similar attitudes. Like I can kind of believe it for Wanda and Spider-Man (given the Mysterio frame-up), but all in all, superheroes seem to have a pretty good rep in the MCU.

@Tim_Eagon For me, I might even see it as super relevant. Like how Republicans overnight became Russia lovers because their mobster con man told them that's the cool thing to do. But that would require someone actually noting that this is what's happening.
But I don't think this is on purpose. I think they are just continuing the Netflix tone.
Which may not be the worst thing? I liked old Daredevil. Not saying no to more of it.

@dawngreeter I'm not objecting to the Netflix tone, but instead the Netflix style worldbuilding (since those shows were kept at arms length from the MCU proper).
I see your point about the Russia thing, but that's been building up for years now in the US.
