    This was the weekend Trump destroyed US exports.

    The left side of the EU Parliament was already against adopting the EU-US trade deal but did not have the majority.

    Now the deal is dead, as more parties outside the left are furious because of Trump's revenge tariffs towards countries protecting Greenland.

    Picture 1: President of The Progressives turns against Trump.

    Picture 2-3: President of Renew Europe turns against Trump.

    Picture 4: Chairman of the Trade Committee turns against Trump.

    @randahl

    They should not ratify this shit .

    the UFA ( the F is not an error , it is intentional) are not a reliable partner. They change their minds every morning and don’t respect any agreement they signed.

    Bad sleep new tariffs, cloudy weather new tariffs , ….
    Up , down , nobody knows what will be tomorrow tariffs.

      @randahl great. In Germany #Spahn tries to sabotage #Merz. Spahn showed sympathy in an interview in SΓΌddeutsche Zeitung for the US position.

        @randahl Trump will finally achieve to have Europe to stand up for itself. Not bad a result in the end. And Pinocchio Tramp keeps smashing the US boat against icebergs. I hope the good guys there will have enough emergency boats to survive the sinking

            @prefec2 @randahl

            This guy seems to believe that Greenland is like Trumpβ€˜s Crimea. Remember? When Putin occupied Crimea there was a lot of silent agreement all around the world.

            So what might become Trumpβ€˜s Ukraine in that logic? Canada??

            This Greenland spectacle also directly helps Putin btw as it opens something like a second front line against Europe and redirects attention and resources away from Ukraine.

                  @randahl @prefec2 Spahn basically says that Europe is depending on the US and that NATO may not be able to defend Greenland. We shouldn't jeopardize our relationship.
                  Spahn is becoming more and more radicalized. He's a german MAGA disciple. Hopefully Merz will sack him soon, there are rumors. But when he does, he won't do it out of conviction and more out of necessity. There are more and more critics in the CDU.

                    @randahl What I would like to know is when are the people in the US going to stand up to Donald Trump? How long will those who are afraid to speak out keep quiet? How much damage does he have to do before reasonable people in the US say, "enough"?

                      I really hope, that this is not the position of the whole party.

                      He is an opportunistic (and very probable corrupt) right winger, unluckily only one of many who currently swim on top of our conservative party. And if I remember correctly he is one who met and befriended the US project 2025 scums in autumn 2024.

                        @wvs @randahl my assumption is that Spahn is very right wing populist and he is friends with Peter Thiel and follows his thinkings. He is also corrupt. For example, during Corona, he ordered masks for millions of Euro without using the proper channels and profiteers of this were people directly linked to him. They had just founded a company to sell masks. Thus, they had zero experience in the business at all.

                            @PG19582 @randahl That's the thing: It's not "Trump can't be trusted" it's "America can't be trusted".

                            All it takes is one election and off they go bouncing happily towards this fucking mess again, and that's assuming the replacement even bothers to improve things rather than maintain as the new norm.

                              @wvs @randahl He also bought a villa in Berlin during his time as minister for health in the last Merkel cabinet, which was way above his pay grade and got allegedly support for the purchase from third parties.

                              There are more such stories, but they all fit perfectly into the way things are done around Trump. And yes, he was ok with Project 2025. Thus, he is a dangerous guy, esp. as he has no scruples at all.

                                    @randahl It would be easier to understand their moral superiority were they not all using Grok for translation.

                                      @randahl it is time to spread this idea: can we please give @pluralistic suggestion of repealing anti-circumvention (DMCA equivalents) across Europe and the world a go? No more wall gardens.

                                      @bicycletting @randahl came here to say this.

                                      If ever it was time to do this, it’s now

                                        @randahl What I would like to know is when are the people in the US going to stand up to Donald Trump? How long will those who are afraid to speak out keep quiet? How much damage does he have to do before reasonable people in the US say, "enough"?

                                        @IndyRichard @randahl Reasonable people in the US are already saying β€œenough.” The key people that are not are Republican Senators and Representatives. Some of them are not reasonable people and are totally deluded. They’ve drunk the Cool-Aid. Many of them are reasonable people but they are afraid to oppose Trump because they and their families will become the targets of violence.
