    As long as you don’t consider the yeast in the bread to be an animal then it’s not just vegetarian. It’s vegan

      Thanks for clarifying about the eggs. I’ve only ever made shakshuka with eggs, and I was very confused for a bit.

        And on the tree of life fungus is closer to animal than plant. The Jain religion prohibits eating yeast for this reason.
