Deep fried the potatoes, pan fried the sausage and cabbage, added a little red pepper flake and once it was almost done I added the potatoes so they could get to know the rest of the flavors.

    Cost per person: $1.62

Have you ever tried braised cabbage? That is 10/10 way to eat cabbage and goes so well with sausages and potatoes.

Regardless, that’s a solid meal one of my favorites

This was kinda half braised. I was running low on time so after I started frying the sausage cabbage I added some water and brought it to a boil with the lid on. Then I removed the lid and reduced the liquid to zero and got some char.

Delicious! I wonder if putting in a bit of mustard would add to the flavour? Maybe I’m reminiscing about my last trip to Germany…

I asked if mustard or sour cream be appropriate but was told to eat it sans condiments.

                There were definitely some farts.

If you make cabbage, smoked sausage and red pepper flakes bland then you messed up. That’s on you. It’s savory with a lot of umami. The smoked sausage adds depth. The cabbage provides a lot of pepperiness.
